Public transport consultation

Details on public transport consultations taking place concerning Lambeth.

Response to South Eastern Rail franchise consultation

The Government recently consulted on a new franchise for the new South Eastern rail franchise, the contract for which is due to start in April 2014.

Our main concern with this franchise is to secure replacement direct services from Clapham High Street and Wandsworth Road to Victoria – services to Victoria will be lost when the East London Line extension opens on 9 December 2012.

We also believes that there is potential to develop Brixton station as a major interchange if platforms were provided on the high level track. This track will carry the East London Line but trains will not be able to stop at Brixton. Lambeth would like to work with the new franchise company to find ways to provide platforms at this level and allow a greater range of train services to stop at Brixton.

Response to Thameslink consultation on new francise

The Government recently consulted on a new franchise for the combined Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern rail services. A contract for the service is due to be let in 2013, and this consultation was an opportunity to raise issues to be included in the new contract.
