Motorbike and scooter riders
Riding a motorbike or scooter is exhilarating and can save you time and money. But you're always more vulnerable on two wheels than four, so make sure you get trained and wear the right gear.
Training
In order to ride a motorbike or moped you must pass your Compulsary Basic Training (CBT) before you can ride on the road.
Once you pass the CBT there are various ways to gain a complete motorcycle licence. Look at the DSA website for full details.
Free BikeSafe courses
BikeSafe is a training initiative run by the Metropolitan Police in partnership with Transport for London in order to improve the skills of bike riders and reduce the risk of them being involved in a collision on the road.
Lambeth Council is offering a free BikeSafe rider skills day to all motorbike or scooter riders living, working or studying in Lambeth.
The one-day courses are run regularly and include accompanied rides with an experienced police rider who will pass on their knowledge and experience in an informal manner.
