Environment Monitoring Officers

Lambeth has a team of Environment Monitoring Officers dedicated to monitoring environmental issues within the borough.

With handheld computers using the latest technology, our officers are able to transmit problems arising on the street directly to our contractors, resulting in no wasted time and resources.

What do the Environmental Monitoring Officers do?

Our officers are constantly monitoring the following areas in the borough to ensure they are maintained to a high standard:

  • Refuse collection
  • Removal of dumped waste
  • Street cleansing
  • Abandoned vehicles
  • Graffiti and fly-posting

They investigate illegal street dumps and gather evidence to prosecute environmental vandals and criminals.

They work with businesses, offering advice on commercial waste contracts and their duty of care.

They work with Safer Neighbourhood Teams to tackle issues relating to crime and fear of crime, including overgrown hedges.

Who to contact

Our officers are easily visible on the street dressed in high visibility vests and coats or grey fleece jackets.

If you are experiencing problems with services in your area you can contact our officers through the call centre by emailing StreetCareCallCentre@lambeth.gov.uk or by calling 020 7926 9000.
