Robson Road Community Freshview - 28 May 2011
The chair of the Robson Road Residents' Association, Nigel Thorpe, contacted the council in February to arrange a Community Freshview event in Robson Road, Norwood.
The residents were out in force on Saturday morning and began the day by cutting back overgrown hedges and trees, making the pavement safer and more accessible for pedestrians
Residents also took time throughout the morning to paint the front walls of their homes and refresh window boxes with new plants.
The major task of the day was revitalising the unused toilet entrances which were in need of a fresh coat of paint. Two officers from Lambeth were on hand with tools and paint, and were happy to get involved with the hard work.
After several hours of dedicated painting the results were fantastic.

As well as making a visible difference to the appearance of the street, residents took time to get to know their neighbours and there was a real sense of community spirit present. A big well done to everybody that was involved and helped make the day so successful.
"It was a really great day and a lot was achieved, both in improving the appearance of the street and in building our community"
