Bicycle Belles - photography competition

A celebration of women's cycling in Lambeth through photography.

In order to promote cycling to ladies in Lambeth and show that cycling can be cool and chic, we are running a photography competition this summer.

There are hundreds of women cycling through and around Lambeth every day and the numbers are increasing. As it is no longer the domain of the lycra clad middle class male, we are looking for images that portray the diversity of women and their bikes.

The best photographs will be a part of an exhibition to be held in September 2008. Prizes will include a bicycle, accessories and of course seeing your work exhibited.

Exhibition of your best pictures

We have received some great photographs of women cycling in Lambeth. We will be holding an exhibition of the best pictures on the south bank on Thursday 18 September.

The exclusive event will be invite only and will include some of the cycling world’s chicest designers and women’s cycling advocates in an attempt to prove that cycling can be cool.

We will be aiming the guest list at women and girls who may find aesthetics a barrier to cycling. If you know of someone who fits into this category and would like them to be invited to the exhibition, please send details to sharrison@lambeth.gov.uk.
