Lambeth Transport Plan 2011

Cyclist's view of the road

The Lambeth Transport Plan 2011 sets out how we will deliver the London Mayor's Transport Strategy until 2031 and forms the basis for future funding bids for projects until 2031. The LTP specifically includes delivery proposals for the 3 year period 2011/12 – 2013/14.

The LTP was presented and subsequently approved by the Executive Committee on Monday 27 June 2011. The LTP was then sent to TfL and the Mayor of London and was approved on 14 December 2011.

A new approach to improving transport

Our draft Transport Plan sets out our new approach to improving transport. We are adopting a Road Danger Reduction approach which means we aim to reduce the speed and number of vehicles in Lambeth and encourage non-threatening forms of transport such as walking and cycling.

We also plan to adopt a neighbourhood approach to delivering projects meaning a range of public realm improvements could be implemented in a wide area rather than isolated improvements to individual streets. For example a 20 mph zone could include cycle parking, car club bays, tree planting, de-cluttering and travel awareness work with residents.
