School Travel Plans

A School Travel Plan is a package of measures designed to reduce congestion caused by the school run and seeks to encourage healthier ways of travelling to school such as walking and cycling. It also promotes the use of public transport and car sharing on the school run.

A number of schools across the borough are now engaged in the School Travel Plan process. Schools are currently at different stages in the process either writing their plan, developing or actually have one in place. They are working with the School Travel Plan Officer and are keen to implement a variety of measure to benefit their schools.

This year more and more schools are enthusiastic about our Safer Routes to Schools Programme and School Travel Plans, and will be getting involved and helping to make the area outside their school safer.
