Walking and cycling can improve your health, save you money, and it is good for the environment too.
We have a range of cycling initiatives including free Dr Bike sessons, cycle training, and a number of cycle parking schemes.
We encourage schools to promote safe walking and cycling to school, and we can check if a path is a public right of way.
Lambeth is a great place to walk and cycle. For cyclists, there are lots of widened bus lanes, cycle superhighways, and recently resurfaced routes and roads. For walkers there are local walks, including our local history walks.
Dr Bike events
Bring your bike along to one of our Free Dr Bike events next summer and get a free safety check from one of our expert mechanics and lots of friendly advice on cycling and cycle training.
Bike the Borough is a free, fun cycling event for everyone, taking in the sights of Lambeth. This year taking place on Saturday 22 June between 10am and 4pm.
The Barclays cycle hire scheme will go live on 30 July 2010. This will allow you to pick up a cycle at a docking station, use it as you like, and then return it to any docking station.
We run a number of bicycle parking schemes, and we work closely with housing associations, businesses, estates and residents to improve cycle parking in Lambeth.
We have three major cycle routes in Lambeth, numbers 3, 5, and 25. The routes are part of the London Cycle Network.
Free one-to-one cycle confidence training is available all year round, seven days a week, to people who live, work or study in Lambeth.
We encourage schools to develop their own travel plans and promote safe walking and cycling to school.
