Future Clapham

Clapham Library artist impressionWe are pleased to announce that Lambeth Council has approved the selection of Cathedral Group to deliver the Future Clapham programme.

The council intends that Cathedral Group will deliver the £75 million landmark scheme that will transform leisure services in Clapham. This includes:

  • a new leisure centre, built to high sustainable standards
  • a 21st century library and customer centre
  • a purpose-built GP surgery
  • high-quality residential accommodation, including 40% affordable housing in partnership with London & Quadrant housing association.

A greener and healthier future for Clapham

The Future Clapham scheme covers three sites in the town centre area. 

  • Clapham High Street - Mary Seacole House will be demolished to become a new state-of-the-art library with a customer centre, a cafe and performance space, alongside a new neighbourhood health facility.
  • Clapham Leisure Centre - The new leisure centre on Clapham Manor Street will be on the site of the existing centre and will feature a 6-lane, 25-metre swimming pool with moveable floor, larger fitness suite, 4-court sports hall, climbing wall and dance studios.
  • Old Clapham Library building- This building will be renovated and refurbished, with the ground floor developed as a community-run centre.
