Local Land Charges were originally introduced to inform the buyer of any obligations which may affect them.

These potential obligations are called 'charges' which when created must be registered against the land. As they are registered against the land itself, they can affect successive owners who must comply with them. You can request information from the local land charges register which is held by the council.

We will only accept payments that are made by postal order or cheques accompanied by a guarantee card. We cannot accept cash. If you pay by cheque and it does not clear, you will have to pay an administration fee of £25.

Personal searches, search of land charges register and optional enquiries

If we receive your search application or enquiry before 2pm (Monday to Friday) it will be ready for you to collect the next working day. You can collect it from the reception desk in the Lambeth Town Hall between 10:30am and 2pm.

You must collect your search results yourself. We will not allow any agents to collect searches on behalf of any other agencies.
