Decent Homes Funding
We the undersigned petition the council to ask the new Conservative/Liberal Democrat government to pledge that the essential capital funding for our housing stock will be given. In total this amounts to £233 million for Lambeth Living; and £25 million for United Residents Housing. This money is desperately needed so that our homes can be made safe, warm and secure. It will pay for new roofs, new boilers, new windows, new kitchens and new bathrooms that are desperately needed by our residents. The last government promised this money – we don’t want the new government to break this agreement and let down Lambeth residents.

Council response
Decent Homes funding is crucial to Lambeth and, as the wording of the petition states, this money is desperately needed so that resident’s homes can be made safe, warm and secure.
On 20th October this year, the Chancellor announced that this
funding pot will be halved and therefore Lambeth Council has
stepped up its lobbying of Government and the Homes and Communities
Agency in order to make sure that Lambeth has every chance of being
successful in its bid for the £278 million needed to meet the
current decent homes standard.
Lambeth Council is reliant on the central government funding and we
will continue to lobby and work with Government, the HCA and other
agencies to access as much of this as possible for the borough.
