EU Settlement Scheme

Identity document scanning for resident EU citizens with a valid EU passport, and non-EU citizen family members with a biometric residence card issued by the UK, applying to the EU Settlement Scheme.

The office opens at 1pm on the first Wednesday of every month.

We are one of the local authorities providing identity document scanning for those applying to the EU Settlement Scheme.

This service is available to resident EU citizens with a valid EU passport, and to their non-EU citizen family members with a biometric residence card issued by the UK.

If you don't have access to an Android device with near field communication (NFC), you can make an appointment to bring your passport or biometric residence card to us, where it can be scanned and verified for you. The purpose of the scan is to confirm your identity so that you'll be able to make an application to the EU Settlement Scheme. You must not start your application before you attend your appointment.

If you have an Android device with NFC, follow the UK government advice on how to apply.

Appointments

We're currently focusing on service recovery. If you urgently need to use this service, please email us at registeroffice@lambeth.gov.uk

What to bring to your appointment

1. Verification of identity

EU citizens
Bring a valid biometric passport. The scan will confirm your identity so that you’ll be able to make an application for settled status.

We don’t keep your ID document and in most cases you’ll not be asked to send your passport anywhere else during the application.

Non-EU citizen family member
Please see the settlement scheme eligibility requirements to see which ID document you need to provide.

Your documents will be electronically scanned and verified for you.

2. A valid telephone number

We need to send you an SMS text-generated pin number during the appointment in order to proceed.

3. A valid email address

Once submitted, an email with instructions on how to complete your application will be sent to the email address that you provide. You’ll then complete your application yourself at a later time, in line with the guidance provided on the email from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

Price

You won’t be charged for the appointment if you're a Lambeth resident. You must bring proof of your address, such as a recent council tax bill, bank statement or utility bill.

For non-Lambeth residents, the service appointment is £14 (including VAT).

Important information

Using the EU settlement service doesn’t guarantee the success of your application.

The service is only for verifying your identity and staff will not be able to offer any advice on the scheme, or specific advice on your personal circumstances.

The Home Office may also request original documents (including your passport) if necessary.
