Who can use this service
Parents and carers can self-refer onto the parenting support programmes or be referred by a professional or organisation they work with.
The consent of the parents should be gained prior to a referral being made.
The only exception to this is where attendance of the programme is a condition of a Parenting Order.
Costs for this service
This service is free to use.
What you need to know...
You can choose the course that best meets your needs and where necessary can access support in your first language.
There are currently four programmes and workshops to choose from.
An eight week programme offered to parents with children aged 2 to 12 years old, including group and phone sessions which aim to build positive relationships between parents and their children.
Triple P Stepping Stones
Triple P Stepping Stones is a programme for parents with children who have a disability aged 2 to 12 years old.
The Positive Parenting Programme promotes good communication and strong relationships between parents and children, to make parenting easier for you.
Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (SFSC)
The SFSC programme is designed for parents or carers with children aged 3 to 18 years old, and consists of a 13 week course covering all aspects of parenting, including:
- cultural identity
- rites of passage
- positive discipline
- community involvement.
Mellow parenting is a programme of workshops and courses for parents with children under the age of 5 who would like support with some of the challenges of parenting young children.
Courses run over 13 weeks and participants meet once a week. To make sure you get the most out of the course, there is a maximum of 10 parents in each course group.
Our children’s centres offer two hour workshops for children aged 5 and under.
