2. Costs for the pest control service

  • The service is chargeable. However if you are a local authority or housing association tenant or are renting your property from a private landlord we would suggest that you contact them in the first instance as it may be a service that they may or have already made provision to pay for.
  • The customer will be asked to pay the officer on the day either by cheque or with cash.
  • The standard cost for most pest control treatments is from £135.60 including VAT. This consists of two or three treatments depending on the type of pest.
  • The treatment for Wasps nests is from £80.40 per nest including VAT (or £105.60 if a ladder or standard access equipment is needed).
  • Removal of dead animals is £67.80
  • Threats to public health and pigeon work (including proofing): These need to be assessed before a price can be given. Prices start from £135.60 (inc VAT).

Council tenants do not have to pay for pest control services. To arrange an appointment, council tenants should contact your local housing office..

3. What makes treatment less effective

Factors that can make treatment less effective include:

  • re-infestation from outside sources
  • building defects
  • failure to take preventative precautions or advice on good housekeeping practices
  • weather conditions affecting outside treatments - some treatments are not effective against some insect pests before they hatch.

4. Urban foxes

Foxes are a common sight in urban areas.

Find information on living with foxes and deterring them if they're a nuisance.
