We want to hear your views on the Draft Revised Lambeth Local Plan October 2018.
The Local Plan is vital to delivering the Borough Plan priorities of:
- Creating inclusive growth:
- Reducing inequality
- Building strong and sustainable neighbourhoods
Building more housing, increasing the number of businesses and employment opportunities, and improving air quality and transport in the borough will improve opportunities for local residents.
Our existing Local Plan, adopted in 2015, contains a strong vision for the development of the borough and much of it is still up to date and effective. However, changes to national planning law and policy, a full review of the Mayor of London’s London Plan and changes in Lambeth mean parts of our Local Plan need to be reviewed.
Once finalised, the Revised Lambeth Local Plan, together with the London Plan and Neighbourhood plans, will set out the vision and planning policies needed to direct and guide development in the borough over the next 15 years to meet our future needs.
There is a legal process for the partial review of the Local Plan. Last autumn we consulted with you on the key issues for the partial review. We are now consulting on our Draft Revised Lambeth Local Plan October 2018.
Issues consultation feedback
We have produced a full Consultation Report that summarises all of the responses we received from the Issues consultation in 2017. You may also want to read our shorter consultation feedback sheets, listed below. These summarise what people said during the last round of consultation alongside a summary of evidence and what we are proposing in the Draft Revised Lambeth Local Plan.
- Housing growth and infrastructure
- Affordable housing
- Self-build and custom-build housing
- Housing for older people
- Business and jobs
- Town centres
- Hotels and visitor accommodation
- Improving air quality

Take a look at the Draft Revised Lambeth Local Plan and the Proposed Changes to the Policies Map, this will also be available in all of our Lambeth libraries. Existing wording in the Draft Revised Lambeth Local Plan proposed for deletion is shown using ‘strikethrough’ and proposed new wording is shown using ‘underline’. You can read all of the policies or just the chapters that interest you the most. All comments must be made by 11pm on 17 December 2018.
The Draft Revised Lambeth Local Plan and Proposed Changes to the Policies Map is supported by a range of evidence base documents.
We have to undertake a sustainability appraisal of the Plan as it goes through the partial review process to check it is meeting key social, economic and environmental objectives. This includes assessing impacts on equality and on health and wellbeing. We would like to invite you to read and comment on the Sustainability Appraisal on the Draft Revised Lambeth Local Plan.
Your views will help us consider whether any changes are needed to the new and amended policies. We will also need to consider whether any changes are needed as a result of the examination of the emerging new London Plan.
Next year we will publish a version of the Revised Local Plan we intend to submit to the government for further comment. Once submitted, the Revised Lambeth Local Plan will undergo examination by an independent planning inspector against four nationally-set tests of soundness. If the inspector is satisfied with the Revised Local Plan, we can adopt it.
