We have been working on a Local Plan, which will set out the strategy and policies that apply to growth and development in Lambeth. The Local Plan is currently undergoing examination by an independent planning inspector.

The Lambeth Local Plan takes account of the National Planning Policy Framework 2012, reviews parts of the existing Core Strategy 2011 and brings forward new detailed planning policies for development management and sites.

Progress with the plan

The Lambeth Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State in March 2014. This triggered the start of the plan's formal examination by an independent planning inspector. This process included a public hearing in July 2014 and will continue until the Inspector issues her final report.

Modifications to the plan were proposed during the examination hearing in response to questions from the Inspector. The Inspector identified about half of these as ‘main modifications’ needed to address issues of soundness with the plan. The remaining modifications are considered minor and are not related to issues of soundness or legal compliance.

For completeness, we published both the proposed main modifications and proposed other modifications for public comment between 17 November 2014 and 12 January 2015 together with the Sustainability Appraisal on the modifications.
