The consultation so far

The first public engagement took place in November and December 2014, with four on-street public events. This was very informal, and respondents were asked three simple questions:

  • What they liked about the project area
  • What they disliked about the project area
  • What they would like to see improved in the project area

People told us that they liked:

  • Lower Marsh regeneration works
  • Leake Street graffiti tunnel
  • Guerilla Gardening at Westminster Bridge Road junction with Morley Street

People told us that they did not like:

  • The Westminster Bridge Road / Baylis Road / Hercules Road / Kennington Road junction
  • The Lower Marsh / Upper Marsh / Carlisle Lane / Westminster Bridge Road junction
  • The tunnels at Upper Marsh, Carlisle Lane and Westminster Bridge Road

People told us that they would like to see many things across the project area improved. The key themes from these concerns were:

  • Pedestrian safety
  • Pedestrian permeability
  • Creating a sense of place and character
  • Connecting the area
  • Reducing the perception of crime

We've used these themes to influence a design process, and we're now consulting the wider area on this.

The consultation period will run from June 23rd 2015 through to 31st July 2015.

How to respond

This consultation ended on Friday 31 July 2015 and is now closed for responses.
