In July 2017 the council agreed to change the formal resident engagement structures. Area boards have replaced area housing and leasehold forums and Assemblies have replaced Tenants and Leasehold Council. In autumn 2018 Just Housing Group was commissioned to carry out an independent review and this was completed in Spring 2019. Cabinet endorsed these changes at its meeting 7 October 2019.
Area boards have nominations from Tenants and Residents Associations as well as other self-nominated residents from the Lambeth 500+. There are two area boards that match the strategic housing areas, North and South, as recommended by the review. Area boards concentrate on service improvements and monitoring the performance of the area housing officers and its contractors.
