The Lambeth Prevent Programme aims to stop people supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists themselves. It is part of the national Prevent strategy.

The programme:

  • Works with community organisations and schools to raise awareness about why and how people can be drawn into terrorism and the support available locally
  • Trains staff in local agencies and groups on how to identify who may be at risk and what to do
  • Runs Channel, a joint council / police scheme to support those who are already at risk

Local authorities and other public bodies now have a legal duty to take action to prevent people being drawn into terrorism.
