Cheries growing on a tree

Open Orchard and community volunteers are planting 35 fruit trees and an edible hedge of nuts and berries on Rush Common. All are welcome to help.

Open Orchard are planting a new orchard in Brixton opposite Brixton's new town hall. Fruit trees help filter carbon dioxide (C02), helping with the message of improving air quality. Open Orchard is also committed to teaching young people and communities about pollination, how food grows, and avoiding food waste. Other planting schemes and - later in the year - fruit picking and cooking events will happen this year.
