Lambeth libraries are pleased to take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge 2020 – and this year it’ll be online. The challenge is to read up to 6 books in the school summer holidays.
Happiness and laughter 2020’s theme is Silly Squad - a celebration of funny books, happiness and laughter, featuring bespoke artwork from award-winning children's author and illustrator, Laura Ellen Anderson The challenge will begin on 4th July until 13 September 2020.
Libraries online Lambeth Libraries usually host activities and hand out collectors wallets, stickers , medals and certificates for readers taking part – until we know about libraries opening we’ll go online.
Children can join in with the digital challenge on the amazing new summer reading challenge website at sillysquad.org.uk. Signing up is easy. A child creates their own account and their parent/carer is sent an email to verify it. Then children can choose a character avatar, set their own reading goals (which they can change later) and will get a silly name to use on the website from the random name generator.
Our e library offers a range of e books, e- audio, comics and magazines so there is a wide range to read towards your goal. These are all available free with your Lambeth library card, so if you haven’t already, join online , its free now ( https://libraries.lambeth.gov.uk/web/arena/join-the-library)
Join the Silly Squad and start your child’s summer of reading free on the challenge website: sillysquad.org.uk. We will continue the fun with online silly jokes , the go to websites, storytelling and craft sessions. We will keep you posted.
