We have appointed Hawkins\Brown and Fluid to work with local people to produce a masterplan for Loughborough Junction. The masterplan will build on the Framework Plan produced by the Loughborough Junction Action Group in 2013 together with the council.

1. Overview

The masterplan will help guide new development in the area. There is already a great deal of change happening and without an overarching plan, there is a risk that the local area and communities will miss the chance to get the most benefit from these changes.

The masterplan will also be used to inform the Review of the Lambeth Local Plan due for adoption in late 2017.

We will work with the local community, ward members, stakeholders and landowners through a series of hands on events to ensure that local aspirations and key interests inform the findings.

In order to receive feedback from as broad a range of people as possible we are holdings a number of different type of events – pop-up street events in areas of large footfall; locally led walk and talks around the area; workshops and information exhibitions; one-to-one interviews; and community reference meetings. If you would like to be kept informed of future events please email ljmasterplan@fluidoffice.com or call the Loughborough Junction Masterplan Team at Fluid on 020 7729 0770.

2. Initial co-production: Pop-up events and one to one interviews

A number of different consultation events were held between February and April to gain an insight into Loughborough Junction and to understand local people's aspirations for the area.

These have included 6 public street events, 25 one-to-one meetings and presentations at local community meetings. Through these we have received the input from over 200 people and have raised the awareness of the project with many more.

A report on the findings from this stage of the consultation process can be found here.

Thank you to all the people who took the time to stop at a street pop-up event, invited us to their community meeting or gave us their time to interview them. All the information received has been extremely useful in the development of the masterplan for Loughborough Junction.

3. Community Reference Group

A community reference group (CRG) has been set up to act as a sounding board for the development of the Loughborough Junction Masterplan, drawing together local representatives to meet with the design team to discuss and inform the plans as they evolve.

The first workshop on the Loughborough Junction Masterplan took place on Wednesday 13 May at the Marcus Lipton Youth Hub; the event was also open to the public and was attended by 35 people. The event gave local people an opportunity to meet the design team and begin to discuss ideas for the area.

To raise awareness of the second CRG/public workshop and to give more people the opportunity to see how the masterplan designs are developing, a number of pop up events were held around Loughborough Junction on the two days leading up to the CRG on 17th July.

The second CRG outlined how the feedback received to date has guided the plans and presented options for key locations in the masterplan for discussion. Seven sites have been assessed and identified as the most feasible in the short to medium term. The masterplan team have developed several options for each of the sites.

You can view the options presented the CRG Options document.

4. Stage 2 Consultation Activities

Further consultation events were held between April and May 2015. At these events, the design team asked for feedback from the community on their initial proposals for the masterplan.

Activities included a Community Reference Group workshop, one-to-one interviews, outreach events, a "walk and talk" tour and a study trip to Hackney Wick. The outcomes of these activities and how consultation responses informed the development of the stage 3 options (consulted on during the summer of 2015) are discussed in the Loughborough Junction Stage 2 Consultation Report.

Thank you to all those who took part in the consultation activities. A report on the consultation events that took place over the summer (as part of Stage 3 of the masterplan's production) will be available early next year. This report will be published alongside the draft masterplan and will set out how your comments have influenced its content.

5. Stage 3 Consultation Activities

Further consultation events (Stage 3) were held between June and July 2015. At these events, the design team asked for feedback from the community on a series of options for the development of each opportunity site.

Activities included a Community Reference Group workshop, “pop up” consultation events, a history and heritage walk, a London Festival of Architecture event and member s of the team attending community events in the area. The outcomes of these activities and how consultation responses informed the development of the Stage 4 proposals are discussed in the Loughborough Junction Stage 3 Consultation Report

Thank you to all those who took part in the consultation activities.
