For 2017/18 primary and secondary in-year applications, 2018/19 reception, junior transfer, secondary transfer and 14-19 applications we require two documents to confirm your address as the parent/carer (applicant) and one for your child from a set list.

Failure to provide these will result in the application and any offers being withdrawn. Even if you are in temporary accommodation, you must provide proof of your current address.

Your child’s school application will be withdrawn if you do not follow the instructions and information below regarding proof of address documentation with each Common Application Form (CAF). This follows information on the online application, our webpages and in the Lambeth School Admissions Team booklets.

  • For reception, junior, secondary transfer and 14-19 2018 entry online CAFs, it is advised that you upload the required documents on to your child's application before the deadline. This can be as a scanned PDF or a clear photo of the documents. If you are unable to upload the documents, you can take copies of these to our Customer Service Centre at Olive Morris House, 18 Brixton Hill, SW2 1RD by the deadline.

  • For in-year or paper CAFs you must attach the required documents to the CAF when it is submitted.

  • If posting the documents to Lambeth School Admissions Team, 10th Floor, International House, Canterbury Crescent, London, SW9 7QE, it is important that you send us copies, as we cannot guarantee the safe return of original paperwork.

Please note any documents provided must be current and relate to the address noted on the CAF. The documents must also identify you by name and must be the most recent ones available (no older than 3 months where stated).

Question and Answers

Why do I need to provide this documentation?

You may be aware that places are normally allocated on the basis of the distance between your home address and the school; therefore address checking is a vital part of ensuring the whole process is fair and accurate. In order for Lambeth School Admissions Team to properly consider your application, we need you to provide copies of the documents listed below to show that you and your child are resident at the address given on the CAF. All applications need to have all the required proof of address documentation provided.

What if I only have one item from the list or none at all?

If none or only some of the documents can be obtained a sworn affidavit, statutory declaration or affirmation, obtained through a solicitor will be needed. This affidavit statutory declaration or affirmation must be signed by a Solicitor holding a current practising certificate issued by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Please note that Lambeth Council cannot contribute towards the cost of obtaining this.

Is it OK that the documents are in my maiden name?

If this is the case we will require a copy of your marriage certificate or Deed Poll statement confirming the change of name, so that we can match the name to the one you stated on the application.

Are bank statements and child trust fund letters accepted?

No, only items on the list are accepted

Do you need a copy of my or my child’s passport, birth certificate or ?

For in-year transfers only

I have only just moved to my current address and do not have all the required documents for that address, what can I do?

Provide what you can from the list for you and your child, and provide an affidavit, statutory declaration or affirmation, obtained through a solicitor.

Will Lambeth Council help with costs to pay for a GP letter or solicitor’s letter?

No, Lambeth Council cannot take responsibility for or provide payment for such documents.

My address is a temporary address, does that matter?

You must use the address where you and your child are living when you make the application even if this is a temporary address, and provide all the required documents. If you then move you must inform Lambeth School Admissions Team ASAP after the move and provide new proof of address documents from the list.

I am due to move soon, what should I do?

As mentioned above, use the address where you are at now, and provide the required proof of address documentation.

If you move address you must tell the School Admissions Team of your new address so we are able to contact you if we need more information or to tell you the result of your application.

To inform the Team of the new address please complete the Lambeth School Admissions change of address form. Also you will need to provide new proof of address documentation for you and your child. Please be advised that if you move after a set time for reception, junior, secondary transfer and 14-19 applications (stated in the related booklets), your new address will be used for correspondence purposes only, all distance measurements would be considered from the previous address.
