If your child has been refused admission to a Lambeth community or voluntary-controlled school, you have a legal right to appeal against this decision to an Independent Appeals Panel.

1. Appeal process

To appeal you must fill in an appeal form (attached to this page) outlining the reasons why you feel your child should be admitted to your preferred school and return it to:

Appeals must be submitted no later than 20 school days after you receive written notification of the outcome of your application for a school place. Any appeals received after this deadline are unlikely to be considered unless applicants are able to demonstrate extenuating circumstances which prevented the appeal from being submitted on time.

Before you appeal, please take time to read the Admission Appeal Guidance Note 2017/18 and Appeal Timetable 2017/18.

2. Appeals for pupils in academic years: Reception to Year 2

Please note that we can only accept appeals for Lambeth community primary schools and Oasis Academy Johanna. If you wish to appeal for admission to any other primary school such as an academy, foundation or voluntary aided school, you will need to contact the school(s) directly to obtain information about how to appeal. A full list of the schools we accept appeals for is included in the 'Admission Appeal Guidance Note 2017/18'.

  • If you wish to appeal for a place in the Reception Class, Year 1 or Year 2 please use the 'Reception-Year 2 Appeal Form 2017/18'
  • If you wish to appeal for a place in Herbert Morrison Primary School please use the 'Years 3-11 Appeal Form 2017/18'.

3. Appeals for pupils in academic years: 3 to 11

Please note that we can only accept appeals for Lambeth primary and secondary community schools, voluntary-controlled schools, Oasis Academy Johanna and Oasis Academy South Bank. If you wish to appeal for admission to any other primary or secondary school such as an academy, foundation or voluntary aided school, you will need to contact the school(s) directly to obtain information about how to appeal.   • If you wish to appeal for a place for your child in Years 3 to 11, please complete the 'Years 3-11 Appeal Form 2017/18'
