If you apply after this date the likelihood of gaining a place at your preferred school may be significantly reduced. Late applications will not be looked at until after national offer day when the vast majority of places have been filled.
If your child has an education, health and care plan (EHCP) the application process will be different to that stated on this page and the form via this page will not be valid. For more information about applying for a secondary school place for a child with an EHCP please see the relevant section of the Lambeth SEND Local Offer website or contact the Special Education Needs and Disabilities Team on 020 7926 9460.
It is important to know how the process works and what you need to do and when. The main 'Secondary schools in Lambeth 2019/20' booklet will be published on this page shortly. Basic information can be found in our brief guide:
Secondary transfer meetings for parents/carers
These have been organised to explain the secondary transfer co-ordinated admission arrangements and give you the opportunity to ask questions about the procedure on the following dates:
- Monday 10 September 2018, 4.30pm to 5.30pm, St John's (Angell Town) CE Primary School, 85 Angell Road, SW9 8ND
- Thursday 13 September 2018, 6.30pm to 7.30pm, Julian's Primary School (Streatham site), 226 Leigham Court Road, SW16 2RB
These meetings are open to all parents and carers of children transferring to secondary school in 2019, even if they do not attend the above schools. Please ensure that if you bring any children to the above meetings they remain with you at all times. Lambeth Council and school staff cannot be held liable for unaccompanied children in the building, nor can they take any responsibility for children brought to meetings.

What you need to know...
There will be a very limited amount of paper CAFs available to apply for a secondary school place but these are only for families who cannot access the internet or are currently taught out of cohort. You can collect a paper form from Brixton Customer Service Centre, Civic Centre from 1 September 2018.
To send us your completed form:
- hand it in via appointment at Brixton Customer Service Centre, Civic Centre. Appointments will be required for staff to check items handed in and will last approximately 10 minutes. Most appointments will be available for the same day or the following day.
- or post it to us using the correct postage to Lambeth School Admissions Team, London Borough of Lambeth, PO Box 734, Winchester, S023 5DG
Proof of address
You must upload the correct proof of address documents for you and your child with the online application by 31 October 2018. If a paper CAF has been submitted it must have these documents attached. Without this documentation your child’s application may be withdrawn and no offer made at a school. Please refer to the required documents list to ensure you provide what is needed.
Proof of child's date of birth
This year we require verification of your child's date of birth. Again this should be attached to the online application by 31 October 2018 or attached to the paper CAF. Please refer to the required documents list to ensure you provide what is needed.
Supplementary Information Forms (SIFs)
Some schools ask you to complete a SIF to provide extra information when you apply for a place. You must ensure that you complete these forms where needed and return them to the school by their deadline for the admissions criteria to be looked at fully. This is in addition to submitting the CAF by 31 October 2018.
Check pages 8 and 9 of the brief guide booklet and the 'how to apply' section in the schools pages in the forthcoming 'Secondary Schools in Lambeth 2019/20' to see which schools ask for these, and their deadlines.
Lambeth Supplementary Information Forms will be available from this page shortly.
For schools in other boroughs, please check their literature.
Some schools require children to sit a test. These are used for banding, to ensure children of all abilities are considered. It is important that you child sits these tests where used otherwise your child may miss out on a place at preferred school. In addition to this some schools have bursary auditions.
To find more information about how the tests are used, check the school's admissions criteria. Full/further details regarding Lambeth schools and how the test is used are published with their admissions criteria will be in the 'Secondary Schools in Lambeth 2019/20' booklet
The date for the test used by some Lambeth schools is Saturday 10 November 2018. Your child will be invited to sit the test once a SIF has been received on time by the relevant school.
If you wish to apply for a Wandsworth school, and your child attends a Wandsworth primary school, your child will sit the test there. If you child does not attend a Wandsworth primary school you must register before 7 September for your child to be invited to a test session. For more information on this please visit www.wandsworth.gov.uk/admissions
For details about tests for other schools/boroughs please contact the school or borough directly.
It is vital that your child sits the tests required for the school(s) you applied for otherwise this will significantly reduce the likelihood of your child gaining a place at the school.
Moving house or change of details
You and your child current address must be used when submitting the application, even if this is a temporary address. The Lambeth School Admissions Team will consider your application using the details you provide on your form.
If you move address you must tell the School Admissions Team of your new address as soon as possible so we are able to contact you if we need further information or to tell you the result of your application. To inform the Team of the new address please complete the Lambeth School Admissions change of address form. Also you will need to provide new proof of address documentation for you and your child. If you inform your council of your change of address before 10 December 2018, the School Admissions Team will take this into account when preferences are being considered.
This also applies if you have a change of medical circumstances or a sibling starts at a preferred school. Please note that changes to preferences after the deadline for on time applications are not permitted.
