Clapham Business Improvement District (BID)

Businesses in Clapham voted in July 2014 to create a Business Improvement District (BID). Businesses will pay money into the BID, which will invest it to boost Clapham’s economy by promoting the area, reducing business costs and improving the environment.

Almost 80% of the votes cast in the ballot held by Lambeth Council were in favour of the BID.

Clapham is the 40th BID in London and the sixth in Lambeth following Vauxhall, Waterloo Quarter, Streatham, Brixton and the South Bank.

Clapham BID has already identified more than £1m worth of projects which will make the area a better place to do business. The BID will officially start work on 1 October 2014.

The Clapham Business Improvement District will be funded by a levy paid by all businesses. Very small businesses (with a rateable value of £8000 or less) will be able to voluntarily join the BID.

The BID area includes Clapham High Street, Old Town, Bedford Road, North Street parts of Clapham Common Southside, and Clapham Park Road and Landor Road. See a map of the Clapham BID area
