Accessibility statement for the tenant account website

This accessibility statement is for Lambeth Council’s tenant account website.

This page only contains information about tenant account.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. You should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
  • use the site in plain text format (without styling)

You should also be able to select a language to get a page translated using Google’s translation service in the website footer. This is a machine-based translation service, so we can't guarantee the accuracy or the sense of any given translation.

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

We aim to make this site easy to understand. If you have difficulty understanding any of the content, please contact us at webteam@lambeth.gov.uk.

  • Very low contrast between text and background colours in a few instances.

Navigating the site without using a mouse

You can move between links using the 'Tab' key on the keyboard. To tab through the links in the opposite direction, key 'Shift+Tab'. Once a link is highlighted, key 'Enter' to follow the link.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Lambeth Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some images don't have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader can't access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.1.1 (non-text content). We aim to fix it by September 2021.
  • Header nesting needs amending on some of the pages. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 2.4.6 headings and labels (AA). We aim to fix it by September 2021
  • The PDFs on this website are not accessible therefore not read by screen reader software. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role value). We aim to fix it by September 2021.
  • Some pages have redundant links - i.e adjacent links go to the same URL. We aim to fix it by September 2021.
  • Some nearby images have the same alternative text. We aim to fix it by April 2021.
  • Very low contrast between text and background colours in a few instances. We aim to fix it by September 2021.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

We don't embed videos or maps on any forms in Tenant Account. If this changes, we will ensure they are accessible or provide an accessible alternative.

How we tested this website

This website was last tested on 30 September 2020. The Lambeth web team carried out the testing, with the help of accessibility testing browser plugin WAVE.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are working with the supplier, Northgate, and following WCAG guidelines to work towards being fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria. We will do this by September 2021.
