These awards recognise the contributions of unpaid carers, and the professionals and organisations that support them.
They are part of our commitment to supporting more than 18,000 unpaid carers living in Lambeth who provide support to family members, friends and loved ones.
The awards celebrate their contribution and help raise awareness of caring and the support available to carers.
Award categories
You can nominate carers and organisations in the following categories:
- Mental health carer of the year: for a carer aged 18 or over who supports someone with a mental health condition.
- Learning disability carer of the year: for a carer aged 18 or over who supports someone with a learning disability.
- Dementia carer of the year: for a carer aged 18 or over who supports someone living with dementia.
- Parent carer of the year: for a parent carer who supports their child, regardless of age.
- 50+ carer of the year: for a carer aged 50 or over.
- Physical disability and/or long-term condition carer of the year: for a carer aged 18 or over who supports someone with a physical disability or long-term condition.
- Neurodiversity carer of the year: for a carer aged 18 or over who supports someone who is neurodivergent, for example someone with autism or ADHD.
- Community organisation of the year: for a community organisation that has provided exceptional support to carers.
- Young carer of the year (aged 5 to 11): for a young carer aged 5 to 11.
- Young carer of the year (aged 12 to 15): for a young carer aged 12 to 15.
- Young adult carer of the year (aged 16 to 25): for a young adult carer aged 16 to 25.
- School of the year: for a school that has provided exceptional support to young carers.
- Care professional of the year: for a professional who has done exceptional work with unpaid carers.
- Carers' GP practice of the year: for a GP practice that has provided exceptional support to carers.
- Special recognition award: for a carer of any age, or a professional, who has made a special impact for Lambeth carers.
How to submit a nomination
You can nominate:
- yourself
- another individual
- an organisation
You can submit nominations in more than one category by completing separate nomination forms.
You'll need to provide:
- the nominee’s name
- their telephone number
- their email address
- a short explanation of why you are nominating them
Nominations close on Monday 20 July 2026.
Before submitting a nomination, make sure you have the nominee’s permission to share their contact details. We'll use these details to contact them about their nomination.

Finalists
We'll use the details you've provided to contact finalists towards the end of August.
There will be an awards ceremony on Friday 18 September 2026 at Lambeth Town Hall.
Why it matters
Raising awareness, visibility and recognition of unpaid carers is one of our priorities in the Lambeth Carers Strategy.
We work with Carers Hub Lambeth, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust to improve the health and wellbeing of unpaid carers in the borough.
This work includes:
- improving signposting to support
- helping carers navigate services
- increasing awareness of carers’ roles and rights

Information provided on the nomination form will only be disclosed to council officers directly dealing with the awards and the awards panel members.
The winners' names, the reason for their nomination and the award category will be disclosed for media and press purposes.
