Starting a business in Lambeth

Use this guide to find out everything you need to know when starting a business in Lambeth.

Register to pay business rates

Councils use business rates to help pay for local services.

You usually have to pay business rates for any non-domestic properties you use for your business. This is the case even if you only use part of a building. You can use the GOV.UK guide to estimate your business rates.

If you have to pay business rates but do not pay, you could face legal action.

When you might not have to pay

Some types of businesses do not have to pay business rates, for example, if you do not have a business premises. Usually, you do not have to pay if you work from home. Find out more on the GOV.UK introduction to business rates.

Certain types of buildings are exempt from business rates.
