The artworks connect the past, present, and future of nursing care in Lambeth, drawing on the Record’s unique archive of nurses’ oral histories and original music inspired by their words.
Artwork 1 aims to enhance a redesign of the Central Hall at St Thomas’ Hospital, where the first nurse training school was established in 1860 and Artwork 2 is an online artwork with transcripts for the hard of hearing, available to audiences both inside and outside the Hospitals.
Both physical and online artworks distil the 24/7 presence of nurses into take the form of a living sound and light clock.
