South East London Mind

Lambeth is home to London’s largest LGBTQIA+ community, which faces significant mental health challenges due to discrimination and stigma.

Alarming statistics from Stonewall highlight the urgent need for support, with high rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide attempts among LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially young people and trans communities.

Launching in October 2024, the ‘Queer Minds’ Peer Support Group is a pilot service designed to provide tailored mental health support in Brixton and expand outreach into North Lambeth, including Vauxhall.

Funding will facilitate community-led workshops, consultations, and creative wellbeing activities, ensuring services are co-produced with those they serve.

Objectives include conducting outreach in Vauxhall, forming partnerships with local groups to enhance referral pathways, and planning programme expansion across Lambeth.

The grant supports a Development Consultant to lead community engagement and recruit a Lived Experience Consultant to deepen the service’s impact and sustainability.
