Waterloo Community Counselling

Waterloo Community Counselling is a community counselling service embedded in the Lambeth community, building strong partnerships to reach marginalised adults struggling with mental health challenges.

The project will grow Waterloo Community Counselling's community partnership work and group activities for marginalised and isolated Lambeth residents including refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants.

They currently collaborate with local organisations to provide enriching experiences like visits to The Old Vic, sessions with Mud Gang Pottery Studios, and a gardening club in partnership with Bankside Open Spaces Trust. Through the project they will connect with 20 new Lambeth-based organisations, community groups or services to develop partnerships that will improve access to services, community facilities and spaces.

Their groups foster a sense of belonging, boost self-esteem, and empower participants to access local services, build peer support networks, and improve their English skills. Project participants will improve their mental health and wellbeing, feeling less lonely and isolated, and more connected to their community.

The project will also seek to engage local businesses and individuals in the work of the charity, to increase sustainability and deliver more services that meet the needs of the Lambeth community.
