Have your say on Kennington Park 'New Recreation Area'

We want your views on our proposals to renovate the tarmac area in the middle of Kennington Park to create a recreation area with a variety of casual activities that will enhance the current offer of table tennis tables. You can have your say by completing our survey in the webpage.

Purpose / Background

The London Borough of Lambeth and The Friends of Kennington Park are working together to improve this area of Kennington Park. Our aim is to create a space for young people to socialise and take part in recreational activities. 

You can help us, by sharing your ideas about what you would like to see included.  

The goal is to enhance the current offer of table tennis tables and basketball hoop, by zoning for a range of alternative activities, such as concrete games tables, areas for group activities like tai chi. The aim is not to make this another sports area, as the park already has a wide range of sports facilities - football, tennis, outdoor gym exercises, etc.  

The proposal is to improve this area by: 

1.  developing the area to be more versatile and welcoming to younger adults

2.  retain the areas that work, e.g. the basketball court and the table tennis tables

3.  create more seating and gathering spaces
