We are currently consulting on Lambeth’s budget proposals for the next four years. This is a response to cuts in our funding from central Government, meaning that we need to realise a saving of £43million.

Like all local councils across the country, Lambeth has a massive financial challenge.

We’ve saved £230 million since 2010 due to central government cuts, more than £300 per household in Lambeth.

But continued government cuts to our funding means we need to save over £43million pounds over the next four years.

That’s more than we currently spend on parks, rubbish and recycling, libraries and street cleaning combined.

This means we have to make some tough choices to keep providing the services that people in Lambeth depend on, like care for vulnerable adults and children which makes up well over half of the council’s budget.

You can find out more about our challenge by watching our short film below.

We have put forward savings proposals to meet that budget gap over the next four years and you can find out more by reading our Budget Report.
