The Council, as the licensing authority, is required to publish a new Statement of Licensing Policy for the borough at least every five years. We are consulting on a draft version of the new policy.

The Statement of Licensing Policy (‘Licensing Policy’) provides guidance and expectations as to how licensed premises will be managed and regulated in Lambeth. Our current policy was adopted in 2014 and we are now inviting your comments before a new Licensing Policy will be adopted in January 2019.

The Licensing Policy covers:

  • The sale or supply of alcohol
  • Regulated entertainment
  • The provision of late night refreshment

This generally covers businesses such as pubs, clubs, restaurants, hotels, off licences and late night food takeaways.

View our Draft Licensing Licensing Policy Summary or view the full version Policy Draft Licensing Policy 2019-24 to help you have your say.

We will publish a report setting out the feedback and comments we received from the consultation, and how these have been considered and reflected in the new Licensing policy. We will aim to do this within six weeks of the consultation ending.

The council keeps the policy statement under constant review and, from time to time, may commission research to inform changes to policy.
