The LGBCE has been running a consultation process to listen to residents’ views on what the shape of the borough’s local government ward boundaries should be. This is important – changes in population mean that some of the current wards do not adequately make sure everyone is as equally represented. This needs to be addressed – and you can help.

The LGBCE is an independent organisation responsible for deciding what the final ward boundaries will be. Lambeth Council worked with the LGBCE last year and earlier this year to raise awareness of the review and to encourage residents and community/voluntary groups to get involved. Over 700 individual submissions have already been sent to the LGBCE, as they consider their final proposals.

The LGBCE has now decided to hold a period of further limited consultation prior to publication of its final recommendations in the autumn so that new boundaries are in place for the 2022 elections.

The LGBCE wants to examine proposals about five revised wards only. This includes the proposed Clapham Common and Stockwell East and Landor wards in the area between Clapham Common and Stockwell tube stations. The other three proposed wards are in the south eastern part of the borough, and consist of the West Norwood, Gipsy Hill, and West Dulwich and St Martin’s wards, which includes the Tulse Hill area.

The LGBCE is not seeking submissions about any ward boundary proposals in any other part of the borough.
