Lambeth’s Future Fit Schools

Lambeth’s Future Fit Schools Network is a local network to empower schools to play their part in reducing carbon emissions and protecting against climate risks in Lambeth.

In April 2022 the Department for Education launched the strategy for sustainability and climate change, acknowledging the role education plays in tackling climate change and creating a better, greener world for future generations. Schools can positively impact, influence and inspire communities by improving the:

•    sustainability of the environment in and around education settings
•    knowledge and understanding of children and young people

In March 2022, Lambeth Council convened partners to develop a Climate Action Plan for the borough to become climate resilient and as close to net zero emissions as possible within our powers by 2030. Schools have an important role to play in reaching our collective goals.

By taking part, your school will benefit from:

  • Action-focussed workshops
  • Tailored resources and support for climate action
  • Peer to peer learning from local schools on best practice
  • Access to industry experts on sustainability
  • Recognised as a Future Fit School taking action on climate

As part of Lambeth’s Future Fit Schools Network, schools pledge to:

  • Set at least 3 climate goals
  • Develop a climate action plan to meet your goals
  • Get involved in the Future Fit Schools Network
