The council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and committed to being net zero in its own operations by 2030. Our updated CCRP builds on commitments set out in 2019 and creates a framework for action to meet that target.
The CCRP draws on progress and learning over the last 5 years and sets out new actions and priorities focusing on where the council has the greatest control and influence. It provides new insights on the source and scale of emissions, the associated costs and sets a clear process for assessing and reporting progress.
The document outlines the council's actions to reduce its carbon emissions, its challenges with limited funding, and the opportunities to work with partners for borough-wide action.
