In April 2022 the Department for Education launched the strategy for sustainability and climate change, acknowledging the role education plays in tackling climate change and creating a better, greener world for future generations. Schools can positively impact, influence and inspire communities by improving the:
• sustainability of the environment in and around education settings
• knowledge and understanding of children and young people
In March 2022, Lambeth Council convened partners to develop a Climate Action Plan for the borough to become climate resilient and as close to net zero emissions as possible within our powers by 2030. Schools have an important role to play in reaching our collective goals.

We've developed a Future Fit Schools Resource Pack to help you get started. It covers 9 action areas for your school to focus on including simple tips, local and national projects to get involved in and case studies bringing the commitments to life. The action areas reflect those in Lambeth’s Climate Action Plan a roadmap for the borough to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect against climate risks by 2030.
