The Napoleonic wars are over. Life for Clapham’s residents is returning to normal – money-making in the City, politely disagreeing over religion, and vehemently arguing about slavery. Daniel Gould is drawing up a remarkable plan of the principal households around the Common. In this illustrated talk, the Clapham Society's history group will identify the cast of characters thereby revealed – high minded reformers, two-timing rogues, and the village’s erstwhile volunteer defence corps.
