Clothes Swap @ Brixton Library

Refresh your wardrobe without spending a penny! Bring along some quality preloved clothing, swap it for something new to you, and discover some hidden gems at the Friends of Brixton Library's free Clothes Swap this August.

A clothes swap is a fun, sustainable and budget-friendly way to update your wardrobe while giving clothes you no longer wear a second life. Just as libraries help us share books within our community, clothes swaps support the circular economy by reducing waste, extending the life of clothing and keeping textiles out of landfill.

We expect most items available on the day will be clothing traditionally marketed towards women, but everyone is welcome to take part, regardless of gender or style.

How It Works

• Bring up to 3 clean, good-quality clothing items.
• Our team will check your items to make sure they're suitable for swapping.
• Receive 1 swap token for each accepted item.
• Browse the rails and use your tokens to choose up to 3 new-to-you pieces to take home.
   

Please Note

• Items must be clean and in good condition.
• We cannot accept swimwear, underwear or pyjamas.
• Shoes must be new and unworn.
• A good rule of thumb: would you happily give the item to a friend? If the answer is yes, it's probably perfect for the swap!
   

On the Day

You can drop off your clothing from 12.30pm, giving our volunteers time to display everything before the swap begins.

The swap will be open from 1.00pm to 3.30pm, so drop in anytime during those hours to browse and swap.
 

Important Information

• Clothing can only be exchanged for swap tokens and cannot be purchased.
• You must bring eligible items to receive tokens and take part in the swap.
• Any unclaimed clothing at the end of the event will be donated to local Brixton charity shops, so please only bring items you're happy to part with.

The event is free to attend, although donations are greatly appreciated. Every contribution helps the Friends of Brixton Library continue to run community events like this in the future.
