Ever been curious about contributing to the world’s biggest online encyclopaedia but didn’t know how? This Wikipedia edit-a-thon can show you! Join us to learn how to create content on Wikipedia. Trainers from Wikimedia UK will give an overview of Wikipedia editing, why it is important and help you get started. If you like learning about and contributing to the recording of Black history in your community then this is a great place to get involved.

We will be working with Wikimedia UK for this edit-a-thon, to write about and enhance articles about Black people, history and culture.  You can use the session to explore Lambeth Archives collections, our library service’s online databases and much more! We will also look at Wikimedia Commons and how you can use photographs and images. Please bring along a laptop, if you cannot we have a couple of spares please email archives@lambeth.gov.uk to reserve.

Following this session our monthly Wikipedia meetup will be at Brixton Library the last Friday of the month, Friday 28 October, 6pm-8pm, which is open to all, if the first step into Wikipedia editing has got you interested!

In partnership with Wikimedia UK.
