Nicola Williams started her career as a barrister in private practice, specialising in Criminal Law and now sits as a Crown Court Judge. She also writes crime fiction and Bernardine Evaristo chose her first book, Without Prejudice, the first book in the Lee Mitchell series, for the critically acclaimed Black Britain: Writing Back series. She has just published Killer Instinct, a gripping, twisty new legal thriller starring underdog barrister Lee Mitchell in a case that strikes at the heart of her chambers!

Having served for many years as a Criminal Barrister and currently as a Crown Court Judge, Nicola has a unique insight into the Criminal Justice System which results in a thrilling authenticity and fresh take to the legal thriller that explores the complex interplay of race, class and authority.
