In the 1980s Lambeth was derided as a ‘loony left’ borough. Seen from another perspective it defined the struggle against the Conservative government’ agenda, and stood for municipal socialism, solidarity with causes both at home and abroad, and against the crisis of inner-city urban life caused by ‘greed is good’ capitalism.
Based on first-hand accounts of those involved, Simon Hannah’s newly published book tells the story of Radical Lambeth, an inner London community that fought back.
