- Health and support
Poetic Unity and ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust) are proud to present an evening at Brixton Ritzy dedicated to raising awareness about Sickle Cell disease and the experiences of Sickle Cell Warriors.
The evening will blend art, education, and community action with:
- Live Performances: Poetic Unity will showcase spoken word artists and musicians whose art channels the themes of struggle, resilience, and purpose.
- Panel Discussion: An interactive conversation featuring Sickle Cell Warriors, healthcare professionals, and advocates.
- Exclusive Screening: An evocative visual journey into the lives of those impacted by Sickle Cell disease.
The evening is designed to:
- Highlight the voices of Sickle Cell Warriors, their struggles, and their resilience.
- Educate the community about the realities of living with Sickle Cell disease.
- Inspire action, including increasing the number of young Black blood donors—a critical lifeline for individuals managing this condition.
Sickle Cell disease is the most common genetic blood disorder in the UK, predominantly affecting people of African and Caribbean descent. Despite its prevalence, the challenges faced by those living with Sickle Cell disease remain underrepresented and misunderstood.
This event is more than a night out—it’s an opportunity to create lasting change.
