Step inside the hand-carved home of Kenyan poet Khadambi Asalache before joining house volunteer and Lambeth Tour Guide Nkechi Noel to trace the stories linking this house to the wider history of Wandsworth Road.

This is a walking tour exploring artists and art in Stockwell. We pass the homes and workplaces of artists, stop at murals and sculptures, and linger in gardens.

Iain Boulton offers a colourful guide to the ‘common lands’ of Lambeth as found at Clapham, Streatham, Tooting, and Rush Commons. What were ‘commons’, why did they come into existence, how were they managed and how have they changed since?

Moving back in time beyond Windrush Square and Electric Avenue, Jon Newman leads a walk into the Georgian ribbon-development and the Regency suburb of Brixton, perhaps its true historic heart.

Explore and learn both old and new crafts. Enjoy various weekly workshops, including drawing, painting, flower pressing, and more, with materials provided.

A 1½ hour walk with a Blue Badge Guide, covering 19th- and 20th-century developments near Brixton Windmill including prison, waterworks, trams and telegraphy.

A guided walk in the gardens of the former home of Henry Tate: sugar magnate, philanthropist and art collector. Park Hill was built c.1830 by William Leaf, a banker and silk merchant. Tate lived there from 1885.

We’ll pay our respects to those resting here who were integral to the network Londoners rely on today, hear some dark tales from the early days of train travel and enjoy learning more about this amazing Victorian space.

This group is run by Age Exchange Lambeth. It provides support, friendship and activities for people living with dementia and their Carers.
