Help with your private sector tenancy

How to get support to help you manage and maintain your home and your tenancy if you’re a private sector tenant.

Who can use this service

Any tenant that has opted or been placed in the private sector via Lambeth Council’s Lettings service.

What you need to know...

We offer support to those that have been placed in the private rented sector following a homeless application in Lambeth Council.

The aim is to:

  • help residents maintain their tenancies
  • support you with managing your finances and tenancy effectively
  • make sure you get all the benefits you are entitled to.

The type of support we provide

The support we provide depends on individual circumstances. A Tenancy Sustainment Officer will carry out an assessment of your needs to determine what support can be offered.

Examples of the support which we can provide you with are:

  • assisting you with Universal Credit and other benefit issues
  • applying for Lambeth Council’s discretionary payments if you're impacted by the benefit cap
  • understanding your tenancy and how to keep to it
  • advising you how to look after your property
  • referring you to others for debt and budgeting advice.

You can access the service by making an enquiry to the Tenancy Sustainment team.
