Your request
We have recently carried out research of London Council websites to identify how many assets are currently held by each council across three categories:
- Community halls/centres
- Libraries
- Town Halls
For Lambeth Council, we have collated the following numbers:
- Community halls/centres 5
- Libraries 10
- Town Halls 1
Before we use the findings of this research, we are asking you to validate the above numbers in the event some assets within these categories are not mentioned on your website.
To pre-emptively answer some questions you may have:
- Please include all assets owned by the council even if they are managed by a third-party organisation, such as a Tenant/Resident association or a Community organisation.
- Please only include active assets. For example, if a library or community hall has closed or been sold, we will not include that in our calculations.
Our response
For Lambeth Council, we have collated the following numbers:
- Community halls/centres
Lambeth Council does not use the definition ‘community centres’ however it does have premises occupied and managed by both Tenants and Residents Association and the Voluntary and Community Sector.
In addition to Tenants and Residents Halls, the Council has set aside a portfolio of premises for the Voluntary and Community Sector in accordance with the VCS Asset Strategy. Decision - Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Asset Strategy | Lambeth Council. There are 49 assets in this portfolio.
Please reference the attached.
