Your request
Please can I request information regarding Lambeth's contracts to supply appropriate adult services for vulnerable adults and juveniles. I would like to know when the contracts are due to go out for open tender (month and year)?
To clarify, an appropriate adult is someone who supports a juvenile or vulnerable adult whilst being detained or interviewed by the police or during interviews by other statutory bodies (e.g. age assessments). This is required by law to guard the interests, rights and welfare of the individual. This service is often provided via a contracted company who can supply trained appropriate adults when needed.
Our response
The contract for Appropriate Adults is currently held by The Appropriate Adults Service (TAAS). It is due to go out to tender at some stage in the new financial year however this is contingent on the resource available to complete an open tender exercise. All tenders are advertised on the appropriate portals.
