Lambeth Council has a net zero target of 2030 ie 80 months away.
Where is Lambeth Housing in producing a strategy and even implementation to achieve this target:
1) On its estates which use communal heating network.
2) For individual properties:
a. Those with cavity wall and thus easier to increase their thermal efficiency.
b. Those without a cavity wall which are therefore harder to improve their thermal efficiency over those that do have cavity wall.
Our response
We have successfully delivered on our 1,000 homes retrofit target in 22/23 and are committed to at least matching this in the current year. Interventions cover a range of activities, including heat pump installation and fabric improvements. We are currently preparing an investment programme for the Council’s residential estate. This will set out a pathway to the decarbonisation of the Council’s housing, based on detailed stock condition surveys. We are also currently reviewing our approach to new housing delivery in order to increase further the sustainability performance of new housing development, whilst
increasing the delivery of affordable housing in the borough.
